I began writing when I was about seven and used to make up stories about the teachers at school
to entertain my friends. I really enjoyed making people laugh,
and it’s been my main object in life ever since.
I’ve had various short stories and humorous pieces in magazines and on the radio, and now most recently in the Oxpens Collections A Sixpenny Debt and Other Oxford Stories and The Lost College and Other Oxford Stories. My first novel, A Proper Family Christmas, was published by Transita in 2005, and has recently been republished under the OxPens imprint. I'm currently working on a new novel 'A Real Family Holiday' set in a beautiful Dower House attached to a stately home. See 'Another Book Another House'. Meanwhile I have just published The Haunted Bridge and Other Strange Tales of the Oxford Canal, a collection of short stories set on the south Oxford Canal. |
I post writing news to the Romantic Novelists' Association blog, the Transita Authors blog and I'm privileged to contribute occasionally to Alan Burnett's witty and amusing 'News from Nowhere'.
I am Deputy Treasurer of the Romantic Novelists Association, and my short story 'Taking Life Seriously' is in their anthology Loves Me, Loves Me Not published by Harlequin Mills & Boon (see link below.)
I am Secretary and founder member of the Oxford Writers’ Group. You can read more about them and A Bit More About Me and my interest in archeology, canals and choirs, by clicking on the links.
